BATMAN BEGINS is the movie that I anticipate the most. I guess it i because
I loved the Tim Burton versions which were kind of dark but still had some lightness to them, this one thought I expect
to be even darker and will focus more in the thriller aspect, maybe even some horror elements. But I bet this movie
will have great action sequences in it. I like the fact that Christian Bale plays Bruce Wayne/ Batman since he always delivers
a darker edge to his roles, most promient as Patrick Bateman in the darkly comedic horror/thriller that was American Psycho
(2000). The rest of the cast list in Batman Begins is very impressive, with such high calibre acts as Michael Caine (The Quiet
American, Around the Bend) playing Wayne´s trusty butler Alfred; Liam Neeson (Kingdom of Heaven, Kinsey) as Henri Ducard,
his trainer/mentor; Morgan Freeman (Million Dollar Baby, Unleashed) as Lucius Fox, a family ally helping Wayne to embrace
his secret identity, you know which; Gary Oldman (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) playing Lieutenant Gordon, Batman´s
ally in the police force; Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai) as Ra´s Al Ghul, dangerous ninja cult leader; Katie Holmes (Pieces
of April, Phone Booth) as love interest Rachel Dawes; Tom Wilkinson (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) as mob boss
Carmine Falcone, Cillian Murphy (28 Days Later, Cold Mountain) as Batman nemesis Dr. Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow.
Plot Outline:
A new restart of the "Batman" franchise under the helm of "Memento" Director Chris Nolan
and more in tone with the early "Batman: Year One" style comics. As a boy a young Bruce Wayne watched in horror as his millionaire
parents were slain in front of his eyes, a trauma which led him to become obsessed with revenge but his chance is cruelly
taken away from him by fate. After disappearing to the East where he seeks counsel with the dangerous but honorable ninja
cult leader known as Ra's Al-Ghul, he returns to his now decaying Gotham City overrun by organised crime and dangerous individuals
manipulating the system whilst the company he inherited is slowly being pulled out from under him. The discovery of a cave
under his mansion, and a prototype armoured suit leads him to take on a new persona, one which will strike fear into the hearts
of men who do wrong - he becomes, Batman. In the new guise, and with the help of rising cop Jim Gordon, Batman sets out to
take down the various nefarious schemes in motion by individuals such as mafia don Falcone, the twisted doctor/drug dealer
Jonathan 'The Scarecrow' Crane, and a mysterious third party that is quite familiar with Wayne and waiting to strike when
the time is right.
The Movie is written by Blade Trilogy scribe David Goyer,
even though the Blade Trinity wasn´t that good I am sure he will meet the expectations better with this one. Adding to that,
the movie is dirtected by Christopher Nolan, with the knack for really great storytelling witnessed as writer/director
of Memento, Insomnia (2002 remake) and Following.
I think this movie will reveal the real Dark Knight, delving more into his damaged psyche.
